Mumbai, Feb 25: Malad Kannada Sangh organized ‘Sahitya Sanje–2012’ at Deep Mala Society auditorium, Marve Road, Malad (West), recently.
Malad Kannada Sangh honorary president Padmanabha S Payyade inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Payyade said that Malad Kannada Sangh has been engaged in service of Kannadigas settled in the western suburb in education, religious, and social spheres. “The litterateurs and poets play a key role in social reforms. The poets unveil their inner self through their poems. The cultural upbringing helps an individual succeed in life,” he added.
The up and coming poet V S Shanbagh presided over the poets’ session that was attended by veteran poet B S Kurkal, Rammohan Shetty Balkunje, Devdas P Salian, Arunsha N Shetty, Hemaraj Karkera, Gangadar Paniyoor, Amita Bhagavat, and Soorappa Kundar recited their poems.
Malad Kannada Sangh vice-president Jagdish S Hegde, treasurer Prakash S Shetty, joint treasurer Shankar R Shetty, women’s wing president Shubhalata S Shetty, and honorary secretary Shambavi B Shetty were present on the dais.
Sugam Sangeet programme was presented by Ganesh Yermal and group as part of the entertainment programme.
Malad Kannada Sangh honorary secretary Shankar Poojary delivered the introductory address. Ashalata S Kotian compered the programme.
