Shimoga, Feb 23: In a complaint filed with Jayanagar police station here, taluk panchayat chief executive officer, B Siddappa, and child development project officer, Suresh Prabhari, have been accused of swindling amounts to the tune of over a crore rupees by using rubber seals of other officials.
Accounts officer of the taluk panchayat, A N Pranesh, filed this complaint, on the basis of which a first information report (FIR) was registered. In the complaint, Pranash said that Siddappa and Suresh had drawn over one crore rupees from the exchequer by misusing the seal of assistant accounts officer of the taluk panchayat.
“Sidappa affixed the above seals to CTS-5 bills, before signing them. Suresh then drew the money from the district treasury on the basis of these bills,” Pranesh said.
He said that rural constituency MLA, K G Kumaraswamy, had earlier written to the taluk panchayat executive officer to withhold these bills and register criminal cases against the guilty, he added. He also has requested the policemen to take legal action against Sidappa and Prabhari.
Complaint under sections 420, 409, and 34 of Criminal Procedure Code stand registered against these officials.
