Panaji: ‘Seminary Day 12' Held at The Carmelite Seminary, Mapusa

Panaji, Feb 22: The Carmelite seminary, Mapusa, here, organized ‘Seminary Day, 12’ in their premises. Fr Joaquim Loiola Pereira, secretary, Archbishop Patriarch of Goa and Daman was the chief guest of the day. Fr Pereira speaking on the occasion appreciated the budding Carmelites for their performance. “ Carmelite Spirituality deepens the Christian spirituality” he said further and appealed the gathering to deepen their friendship with Jesus.

Fr Diogo Proença OCD, rector, Carmelite seminary, Mapusa, welcomed the gathering. Fr Ajith Rodrigues OCD, director of the aspirants presented a brief report of the  year 2011-2012. The teachers and the contributors for the day were honored by Fr Pereira. The aspirants were awarded for their performance in the various fields by the chief guest.

A drama based on God’s creation, ‘What God Makes, Man Breaks’ was the highlight of the programme. The script of the drama was written by Lenin Nunes. The aspirants and the friars of the community also presented a variety of cultural programme consists of prayer dance, a Goan folk dance, western dance, advertisement, a Konkani duet on 'Garbage', dance and a comedy.

Br Stevan Lobo OCD  and Fr Ajith Rodrigues OCD compered the entire programme. Fr Ajith Rodrigues OCD proposed the vote of thanks.  A large number of people gathered to witness the annual cultural evening of the Carmelites.
