Doha: Karnataka Sangha Qatar Lifts Tulu Koota Kabaddi Trophy

Doha, Feb 17: Tulu Koota Qatar hosted the fourth kabaddi tournament at the Sumayya Primary Independence School playground near the Mall Roundabout on Friday February 17.
In the morning, Tulu Koota president Ramachandra Shetty welcomed the gathering. Milan Arun, head of Afiliation and Consular Servies (ICC) addressed the gathering and greeted the participating teams. Sports secretary Kiran Anand conducted the oath-taking ceremony with the team captains. Divakar Poojary hosted the morning session and announced the fixtures of the tournament. Support sponsors of the tournament Abdul Monu, president SKMWA and Somnath were present for the inaugural.
The six participating teams were the host team Tulu Koota Qatar (TQ), Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Advanced Technical Services (ATS), Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), South Kanara Muslim Welfare Association (SKMWA), and Galfar.
The knockout session was followed by semi-final matches. The first semi-final was between MCC and SKMWA-41, which the MCC won by 21 points, and the second was between KSQ and ATS, which the KSQ won by 22 points.
The most awaited final was played between KSQ and MCC. KSQ won the title with 75 points and MCC finished the game with 30 points. The semi-final and final matches were played for 15 minutes each with two sessions whereas the final was played for 20 minutes with two sessions each.
For the prize distribution ceremony in the evening, Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) president K M Varghese was the chief guest, Ravi Shetty, managing director of Advanced Technical Services and Asmath Ali, managing director of Golden Trading & Decoration, the main sponsors of the tournament, were the guests of honour.
Tulu Koota president welcomed the gathering. Chief guest K M Varghese congratulated the winning teams as well as Tulu Koota for organizing such a great event to support the kabaddi players.
The members of the winning KSQ team were Ravi Kumar (captain), Razak, Rahim, Rauf, Andy, Anand, Venkatesh, Sattar, Simran and Savad.
The runner-up MCC team comprised Shabinash (captain), Melwyn, Noel, Suman, Stany, William, Sentail, Ryan, Sandeep and Sunson Fernandes.
The 'best raider' of the tournament was Ravi Kumar (KSQ), and the 'player of the tournament' award was bagged by Abdul Razaq (KSQ), while Melwyn (MCC) was adjuged the 'best catcher' of the tournament.
Talented Manjunath kept the audience entertained with his running commentary while the score panel was controlled by Seetharam Shetty and Sandesh Anand. The sound system was provided by Sunil and Dhananjay.
The referee panel was led by Steson. The first aid medical team was led by Abdul Rehman Bantwal.The chief guest distributed prizes to the winners along with the guests of honour.
Akshya Deepak Shetty compered the prize distribution ceremony while Kiran Anand, sports secretary, concluded the event with the vote of thanks.
Hundreds of kabaddi enthusiasts gathered at the venue to witness their favourite teams in action.
