Mangalore, Feb 16: A national seminar on Indian women writers in English will be organized by the department of English of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), on Saturday February 18 at the IT Auditorium (Eric Mathias Hall). The seminar aims to explore the multihued aspects of modern day Indian women.
The resource persons for the seminar will be Giselle Mehta, Dr Meena Kandasamy and Dr Meena T Pillai. The seminar will be inaugurated by Giselle Mehta, who will also deliver the keynote address. Giselle Mehta will talk on the topic 'Reversal of gender stereotypes in contemporary women's writing'. The lead paper will be presented by Dr Meena T Pillai on 'Women and autobiographies'. A discussion forum will be led by Dr Meena Kandasamy on 'Writing our body: Feminist Poetry in India'.
Also, there will be paper presentations by participants.
Several eminent scholars and creative writers are expected to participate in it. Teachers of English literature and research scholars from different parts of India have already registered as participants. As many as 40 research papers on the various aspects of Indian women writers in English will be presented at the seminar.
