Sullia, Feb 15: Tambaiah (72), a resident of Tamil Colony in Kanakamajalu village in the taluk, who was serving life term in Belgaum jail, breathed his last due to ill health. His cremation was conducted at his native place on Monday February 13.
Tambaiah hadbeen accused of killing his son, Chandrashekhar, a soldier with the Indian Army, in 2007 relating to a dispute over the latter’s decision to marry a girl against the wishes of the former. Tambaiah was arrested, and after his crime was proved, was awarded life term in 2010.
Tambaiah had been accommodated in Belgaum jail. A few days back, he developed health complications, and hence, was taken to Bangalore, where he was admitted into Victoria Hospital. He breathed his last, as treatments could not improve his condition.
