Udupi, Feb 13: The foundation stone laying ceremony of Government Polytechnic, and inaugural of the girls’ hostel was held on Sunday February 12.
State PWD minister C M Udasi, after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating the hostel, said that education is essential for all round growth of an individual. He added that the state has been developing infrastructure with a view to getting global recognition.
Speaking on the occasion, state higher education minister Dr V S Acharya said that both engineering graduates and diploma holders are in great demand. “The state higher education department has witnessed rapid growth in the recent past. A total of 189 new colleges were established in the past three years, besides 43 new polytechnics out of 81 government polytechnics begun in the past three years. An amount of Rs 8 crore each was earmarked under RIDF to establish polytechnics in Haveri, Mankapur, Harappanahalli, Bantwal, Karkala, and Udupi,” he added.
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, DC Dr Reju, state technical education director Talawar, technical education assistant director Ramalingayya, Udupi Government Polytechnic principal H Renukaprasad, Nirmiti project officer Arun Kumar, and PWD executive engineer Chandrashekar were present on the occasion.
