Mangalore: 'Yakshagana Mahotsava' Raises Funds for Artistes

Mangalore, Feb 12: Jeppu Majila here wore a festive air as the locals organized a 'Yakshagana Mahotsava', a fest where people from all religions and cultures got together to celebrate the event on Sunday February 12.
The main sponsors of the programme were 10 members, of whom Ashok Tauro was one, who are all working for the development and recognition of Yakshagana artistes.
Speaking to Daijiworld, one of the 10 members said that this programme is organized every year and funds will be used to help the artists financially and on poor children.
People who attended the festival were happy to see the programme and witness the riot of colours.
Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari Dashavataara Yakshagana Mandali's 'Shree Devi Mahatme' was played on the ground of Jeppu Majalu which started at 9.30 after the 'Maha Pooja' at noon in the 'Naga Bana'.
Thousands gathered to watch the programme. The crackers were burst during the performance which gave it the colour of an international festival.
