Moodbidri, Feb 12: "JD(S) does not believe in caste-based politics. Our leaders are committed to the progress of the entire state. JD(S) will undertake tour in 30 districts with all the activists by forming four teams," said JD(S) supremo and former PM Deve Gowda.
He was speaking at the inaugural of JD(S) Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts' convention here on Sunday February 12.
"I have tendered resignation thrice. We have never craved for power. At one time, when I gave my resignation at midnight, former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee offered to save the government, but I did not reconsider my decision. If JD(S) comes back to power in the state, I will watch over the administration from a distance, keeping myself away from active politics," he said.
He further added, "It is not possible to sit in the pariliament now. The way veteran BJP leader L K Advani was attacked for praising Mohammed Ali Jinnah is a proof to BJPs' internal turmoil."
The voters of Dakshina Kannada are intelligent, educated and experienced, and will certainly choose the right person in the next elections, Deve Gowda said.
