Bangalore, Feb 8: Things seem to be getting worse for the three Karnataka ministers who resigned after being caught watching a sleaze video on a mobile phone during the Assembly session on Tuesday February 7.
In a latest news coming in, all three - Laxman Savadi, Krishna J Palemar and C C Patil have been barred from attending the Karnataka Assembly till probe into the matter concludes.
The matter will be probed by a six-member committee which is expected to submit its report by March 12.
The incident has created an uproar across the state, and on Wednesday, besides protests by various political quarters, the Assembly too witnessed a commotion with the opposition and other parties demanding resignation of the three from MLA post and stringent action by the speaker.
Amid shouts of 'Shame! Shame!' the Assembly was adjourned sine die.
An emergency meeting was convened by chief minister Sadandanda Gowda and law minister Suresh Kumar with speaker KG Bopaiah.
However, the CM was firm that action would not be taken against them without the completion of the probe. He also claimed earlier in the day that they had resigned voluntarily 'despite being innocent'.
BJP national leaders called the incident unfortunate and contrary to the voluntary resignation claim, said that the party had made them to resign and therefore taken immediate action. BJP national president also promised further action in the matter.
BJP's Karnataka representative at the centre Dhananjay Kumar also held the same stance and asserted that it was the party that had asked them to step down.
"The BJP has taken this seriously. We uphold morality in public life. What has happened is unfortunate," he said.
