Mangalore, Feb 8: The Department of Biotechnology will organize ‘BioSpectra’, a National-level Fest at Eric Mathias Hall on February 9. Echoing its voice with the United Nations theme of the year ‘Sustainable Energy for All’, the fest marks the decennial celebration of its establishment.
The Department on the occasion is conducting various competitions such as biosem – Wheedle your way (seminar), Lumosity (quiz), Restrict Align Ligate (collage), Flash Trix (photography Competition), Brain Hacker (stress interview) and so on for the students of life science courses.
The objective of the Fest is to inspire and encourage young budding scientists of Life Sciences to exhibit their talents and creativity. Dr C Vaman Rao (HOD/professor department of Biotechnology, NMAM Institute of Technology) the chief guest of the function will grace the occasion and inaugurate the decennial celebration.
The department of Biotechnology of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore: re-accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC, as a College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by UGC and as a Star College by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) was established in 2002. Since then the department has grown by leaps and bounds.
Today, the department is recognized as a centre for research by Mangalore University and as a BT Finishing School by the Government of Karnataka.
