Bhatkal: Miscreants Damage Wooden Idols of Goddesses, Tension Prevails

Bhatkal, Feb 6: Tension prevailed in Bhatkal town on Sunday February 5 after a few miscreants damaged four wooden idols of goddess Hulagirathi and three wooden idols of Mahasati in Belalakhanda village on Sagar Road. The incident came to light early on Sunday morning.

The idols were worshipped by members of the Gonad community, a scheduled tribe.

On learning about the incident, a large number of people gathered at the spot and demanded action against the culprits. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Security has been tightened in town.

    Its very sad when some people damage temple masjid or church god will punish those people

    Very sad, but we cant blame any community here for the inhuman thinking and action by 1 or few people here.Good job Indian hindu community for understanding the situation and maintaining peace by not blaming any particular community.. Jai Hind
