Mangalore: Police Arrest Three for Mobile Sim Card Fraud

Mangalore, Feb 5: The Panambur police have arrested three persons involved in conning people with fake sim cards.

The arrested trio are Bangalore resident Shahid Shameer Khan, Krishna Shettar hailing from Gangavati and Bagalkot district’s Praveen Chandrashekar. The three have been remanded in judicial custody.

The three had created a fake organization by the name National Society for Information Technology and through that had submitted forged documents to Tata Docomo firm. They were selling additional sims of Docomo illegally. They used to sell postpaid sim cards to customers without collecting any documents or proofs.

On obtaining clues regarding their illegal business, the Panambur police carried out investigations. Firstly Shahid Shameer Khan was taken into custody and on thorough inquiry he gave out details about others.

The police also learnt that through fake documents the trio had obtained around 201 postpaid sims and 400 pre-paid sims and had caused a loss of around Rs 80,000 to Tata Docomo organization.
