Dubai, Feb 5: Local artistes from the UAE yet again made the world of Tulu drama proud with a perfect entertainer, a thoroughly professional performance and a historic presentation with Tulunada Ratna Dinesh Attavar's 'E... Porlu Daye...?'. It was simply a step forward, an extension of their earlier historic shows of 'Ganguna Gammth', 'Mastru Manipujer' and 'Benpinori Tinpinori'.
The team this time came together as 'Gammath Kalavider'. Remarkably, the show was free, despite the team already proving that by all means they are as good as any professional Tulu drama troupe in Mangalore or elsewhere. It was also clearly evident of the time and efforts put in by the team and the mastery of leadership.
The most heartening part of the show was a jam-packed audience which appreciated performance of each actor with applause and sat till the end of the show which concluded at 11.30 pm.
'E... Porlu Daye...?' was presented at the Emirates Theatre, Umm Suqueim, Dubai and the stage event started at 5.30 pm. Sarvotham Shetty, a personality well-known to all, launched the event with his beautiful and highly impressive oration. He welcomed all sponsors and supporters and delivered the introductory remarks. Vasu Shetty, main co-ordinator of 'Gammath Kalavider' honoured all on stage with shawls and mementos.
The logo of 'Gammath Kalavider' was inaugurated by Mrs Kushala Shetty and Mrs Harish Bangera. The logo depicting Tulu culture and folklore, Arabic soil and drama art, is the concept and creation of Ganesh Rai.
Dinesh Attavar, writer of the original script and ace actor, was honoured with the title 'Tulunada Ranga Siri', shawl, citation, bouquet and fruit basket. Speaking on this occasion, Dinesh Attavar requested all Tuluvas to support 'Gammath Kalavider'.
Chidanand Poojary, founder member of 'Gammath Kalavider' and 'Yaksha Mithraru' (amateur Yakshagana troupe in the UAE) too was honoured for his untiring efforts towards promoting Yakshagana, drama and all other forms of entertainment. He was honoured with shawl, citation, bouquet and fruit basket.
Harish Sherigar presented a few Kannada karaoke songs which were liked by all.
The play, a comedy and family entertainer with great moral, revolved around the story of a man and his relationship with his son and widow daughter-in-law. Blended with clean and classy comedy, the play was a pure and superlative comedy. All the actors delivered breathtaking performances.
Vishwanath Shetty yet again proved his excellent directing skills. Kethan D'Souza provided the background score. Stage setting was done by Chidanand Poojari. Prasad Rai provided lights and sounds, and Kishore Gatti, the make-up.
After the drama, actors and technical team were called to the stage and presented with mementos. Sarvotham Shetty too was honoured for supporting the event.
Earlier, Vasu Shetty welcomed the gathering and called upon all Tulu speaking people to be united irrespective of their diversity.
