Udupi: 'City Centre' Mall - A Dream Come True for Shoppers

Udupi, Feb 3: 'City Centre', the first mall in Udupi-Manipal and the one of the ten largest malls in Karnataka, is going to be the new shopping destination of the district and indeed, a dream come true for the people of Udupi.

Situated in a strategic location just adjacent to Udupi Service and City bus stand on either side and Jamia Masjid in front, the mall, once completed, shall be a feather in the cap of Udupi's glistening landscape and the city life is going to move at a faster pace in Udupi.

The project, undertaken by Udupi Developers, is expected to be ready by December 2013, tentatively.

Jamalluddin, managing partner and Ashfaq, partner of Udupi Developers said the mall shall create employment opportunities for over a 1000 people of the city. Udupi being one of the fastest growing cities in the country, such commercial facilities would be necessary to satisfy the demands of public.

They said, "'City Centre' certainly shall open up new horizons for the people of Udupi district and emerge as a one-stop shopping haven for all consumer needs, including food courts with multi-cuisine restaurants, fast food joints, children play, shopping, high-end saloon and spa facility. Singapore bazaar, consisting of low budget shops, a concept framed by Waseem Ameen, will be an added attraction of the mall, wherein low income groups can own shops ranging from Rs 5 lac to Rs 8 lac. This feature is likely to be the first of its kind among malls in India.

The 1.0 lac-sq ft mall shall house over 200-plus retail stores including national and international brands which will make shopping in Udupi a delightful experience. Global and national brands, hitherto not available, will now be accessible in the city.

Outlining the features of the mall, Er. Waseem Ameen, PMP (USA), involved in the design concepts and design management of 'City Centre', said that the mall comprises four levels of retail shopping space. The basement level will be fully allotted for parking of four-wheelers and two-wheelers, and all floors will be connected with four high-speed automatic passenger lifts, three escalators, one freight lift and garbage chute for easy disposal of waste. The fully air-conditioned mall shall have uninterrupted power supply and shall be fully equipped with all fire protection and fire fighting systems.

The third floor will also house a very large food court accommodating 200-plus customers with as many as 15 express counters offering local, fast food and multi-cuisine food, along with a 4,500-sq ft children's play area and 48 budget shops in Singapore bazaar.
