Mangalore, Feb 1: Police on Tuesday January 31 registered a case in connection with the death of Anil Raj (40) from Bikarnakatte in the city, who was admitted to Vijaya clinic near Bunts Hostel here on Monday for treatment of low blood pressure.
On Tuesday, a case was filed by Nagaraj, brother of the deceased, against Dr Satya, Dr Priya Ballal, Dr B H K Rao, Dr Siju and nurses of the hospital, holding them responsible for the death of Anil due to medical negligence, at Bunder police station here. He has said that negligence of the concerned, dereliction of duty on their part, and rash treatment of the patient had caused his death.
He has mentioned not admitting the person as inpatient and administration of two and half bottles of glucose in a room and intensive care unit, as the reasons for the death of Anil. He has alleged that these actions caused adverse reactions in Anil Raj, who was suffering from diabetes. He also accused the hospital staff of not providing proper information about the condition of the patient and type of treatment being given to him, when questioned.
The policemen, who have begun investigation, have taken into possession documents containing details of medicines administered to the patient, equipments etc. Post mortem of Anil Raj was conducted by two doctors on Tuesday. The entire process was videotaped in view of the dispute, and the report is expected within two to three days, it is learnt.
