Sullia, Feb 1: “The ideals of Swami Vivekananda are ever prevalent at a time when youth are ready to trade in national interest for monetary gains. The rampant corruption in the country can be reformed by the teachings of Swami Vivekanand,” said Professor Rohinaksha of Vivekananda College, Puttur.
He was delivering the keynote address during the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda held under the aegis of the ABVP at Durgaparameshwari Kala Mandir on Tuesday January 31.
“Unpatriotic men are depriving the national benefits of the common man. The college campuses must shape a better future for them are becoming breeding centers of terrorism.
There are intellectuals in our midst who support the naxal movement,” said Prof Rohinaksha.
“Swami Vivekananda had introduced the reformed Hinduism that is open to change and modernity. British curriculum introduced by the Imperial rulers is churning out Indians with a British perspective. The future of the country depends on how the youth respond to the nation’s call. Those who respond favourably to the nation’s call and for the betterment of society will remain in memory for ever,” he added.
Nehru Memorial College principal Prof K V Damodar Gowda after inaugurating the programme and garlanding the portrait of Swami Vivekananda, exemplified that Swami Vivekananda was truly a world spiritual leader. He also urged the youth to embody the ideals of Swami Vivekananda who was a nationalist and a socialist.
