Mangalore: Family Blames Doctors After Man's Sudden Death

Mangalore, Jan 30: In yet another case of alleged medical negligence, a 40-year-old man lost his life after he was admitted at Vijaya Clinic here on Monday January 30.
Anil Raj, a painting contractor, fainted in his residence in Bikarnakatte on Monday morning and was rushed to Vijaya Clinic.
His blood pressure was found to be low and to bring it under control, the duty doctors are said to have administered him an injection.
However, the doctors did not know that he also suffered from diabetes, and after administrating the injection, his sugar level suddenly increased, allege Anil's family members.
At around 3.30 pm, he collapsed following a cardiac arrest. His family members said that medical negligence caused his death. They also said that lack of communication between the doctors had led to the tragic incident.
The doctors in their defence told daijiworld that at that moment when Anil was brought in for treatment, they had no other option but to administer the injection. They, however, admitted that they had failed to detect diabetes.
Bunder circle inspector Vinay Gaonkar and police officer Ramakrishna and other personnel arrived at the spot to bring the situation under control.
