Mangalore: ‘Yuva Shikshana Abhiyana’ to Foster Kannada Literature Held

Mangalore, Jan 29: ‘Yuva Shikshana Abhiyana’, a programme to honour the achievers in Kannada literature, culture and art was organized jointly by Mangalore Taluk Kannada Sahithya Parishad and St Aloysius PU College here at the premises of St Aloysius PU College on Saturday January 28.
Chief whip of opposition party and Moodubidri MLA K Abhayachandra Jain inaugurated the programme and wished all the success in his inaugural address. Lauding the Aloysius education institution he said that it has been supporting the cause of education since 132 years, this particular programme is nothing less than a Government initiated programme. Those who are deprived of education should be brought to the mainstream and should be educated, he added.
Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor, former state president of Kannada Sahithya Parishad presided over the programme. Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal, St Aloysius College, Mangalore spoke on the occasion. Prof. John Edward D’Silva, principal, St Aloysius PU College, Mangalore delivered key note address. John Noronha, vice president, PTA, St Aloysius PU College, Organizer Fr Elvis Louis SJ and Mangalore taluk Kannada Sahithya Parishad president Sarvottham Anchan were present.
Senior journalist Guruvappa T Balepuni, the first Kannada journalist from the state who bagged prestigious Sarojini Naidu national level award, John Edward D’S’ouza who has been supporting Kannada programmes, Vasanth Kumar Perla of Mangalore Akashavani, Mahesh Nayak of Kallacchu Prakashana were honored on the occasion.
Later ‘Shree Krishna Karunya’ yakshagana bayalata was staged from Sarayu Bala Yaksha Vrinda’ under the able direction of Ravi Alevooraya from 6.30 pm onwards.
