Bhatkal, Jan 28: The 63rd Republic Day celebrations were held with patriotic fervour and eye-catching display of culture at Bhatkal Police Ground, here on Thursday January 26.
Assistant comissioner Ashok Naik hoisted the Indian tri-colour. Addressing the gathering, he said that the significance of Republic Day celebrations applies to everyone in the country.
The impressive march-past was watched by chief guest and others, more than 5000 people were present during the celebrations, nine achievers who have excelled in various fields were felicitated on the occasion, from Republic Day Committie and Top Help Association.
As many as 11 teams comprising of NCC wings, scout, police personnel and students participated in the march past. Various cultural programmes like partriotic songs and dance were presented.
The police personnel wing won the first prize in march past.
MLA JD Naik, DYSP M narayana, CPI Shivprakash, TMC president Inayatullah shahbandari, Tahsildar Madukeshwar, Taluka panchayat president Parshunath Shetty among others were present.
