Mangalore, Jan 27: A J Hospital & Research Centre inaugurated a 'Yoga Therapy Department' in association with Avishkar Yoga, Bejai, here at A J Hospital & Research Centre, here.
Dr Ramesh Pai, dean, A J Institute of Medical Sciences inaugurated the department. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ramesh Pai said, "Though yoga was practiced from the vedic times, it is gaining momentum only after scientific studies are carried out. Yoga is beneficial for good health."
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Dr Ganapathy Joisa, HOD of Yogic Sicences, KMC, Manipal, said, "Yoga is one of the ancient sciences of Indian Healthcare sciences. A scientific approach to the yogic sciences will help in applying this therapy to treat all ailments as also to maintain ones health in the long run."
President of A J Group of Institutions, A J Shetty, director – Medical Administration, A J Hospital & Research Centre, Dr Amitha Marla and director and Yoga teacher, Avishkar Yoga, Kushalappa G N were present on the occasion.
Dr Lavya of Avishkar Yoga welcomed the gathering, Kushalappa G N delivered vote of thanks and Dr Rachana compered the programme.
The department will be functioning from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm initially.
