Dubai: Teams Set for Karaval Milan Volleyball, Throwball Tourneys on Jan 27

Dubai, Jan 26: Karaval Milan on Tuesday January 24 held the draw for the volleyball and throwball tournaments which will be held at Sharjah Wanderers Club on Friday January 27.
The draw was held at Winny’s Restaurant, Karama in the presence of well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist Frank Fernandes, chairman of Mosaco Shipping , tournament referee Sudhakar Alva, representatives of participating teams, distinguished guests and Karaval Milan Members.
Defending champions Saifah Friends (Chilly Willy – Saifah ) are all geared up to defend their title while Ace Spikers (Rak Dolphin-Ace Spikers) the runners-up of last year will try to go one better this year.
The women’s throwball will have traditional powerhouses and last year's finalists Mangalore Konkans and Bunts Dubai will look to rule the roost yet again while other teams get ready to rock the boat.
In throwball, the league and semi-final matches will be played as a best of 3 sets of 15 tennis points in each set. The throwball finals match will be a best of 3 sets of 21 tennis points each.
Organizers have been overwhelmed by the response and enthusiasm shown for the mixed throwball event. Organizers have thus decided to increase the maximum number of teams to 6.
Guidelines for the mixed throwball event:
• Each team should have 4 women and 5 men (men participating in the volleyball tournament are not eligible)
• Entry for the mixed throwball event will be at the venue in the morning session with a nominal entry fee of Dhs 250.
• Entry will be on a first-come basis.
• Teams will be divided into two groups of three teams in each group. Each team will play two league matches within the group. A single set of 21 tennis points will decide the winner for both league and finals.
• In case of any tie in results to qualify for finals a Super Game of 10 tennis points will be conducted.
• Players to be substituted during the game will have to be of the same gender as the outgoing player.
All participating teams are requested to report at 7.30 am at the venue in order to complete the reporting formalities. Breakfast will be served to all the players till 8.30 am. A delicious traditional Mangalorean lunch will be served complimentary to all the players and spectators.
Organizers have requested all the teams and spectators to be there on time and make the event a grand success.
