Udupi, Jan 24: The lamp lighting ceremony of Vidhya School of Nursing, sponsored by Vidhyaniketan Group of Education Institutions, Kaup, was held on Sunday January 22.
M Ramachandra, principal, Greenwood Public School, Bekal, in his inaugural address urged the nursing students to serve patients with love and care, like Florence Nightingale who had nursed wounded soldiers during the war. “The nursing profession is not a bed of roses, it’s filled with thorns, and the nurses have to do their duty with humility and smiles,” urged Ramachandra.
Dr Y N Shetty, superintendent, SDM Ayurveda Hospital, Udyavar, was the chief guest on the occasion. He appealed to nursing students to shed the inferiority complex and serve patients with dignity.
Anantaraj Charitable Trust chairman K P Acharya presided over the programme.
Vidhyaniketan Group administrator V K Udyavar, nursing department chief Fairosa Ali, and Jojo P R were present on the dais.
