Udupi, Jan 23: “The proposal to set up a Photographers’ Academy in the state is likely to be approved by the legislative assembly with the hope of rapid progress in the photography sphere,” said speaker MLA N Yogish Bhat.
He was speaking after inaugurating the annual programme of Bantwal zone South Kanara Photographers’ Association (SKPA) held at Rotary Bala Bhavan, south B C Road, on Saturday January 21.
“The service of photographers is indispensable, without which any programmes will be incomplete. They capture pictures of rare moments for posterity. Constant upgrading with latest technology and professional excellence helps future photographers to excel,” added Bhat.
SKPA president Vasudev Rao, in his presidential address, said that the Association is strengthening and this has enabled them to undertake social welfare activities.
Vamadapadav community health centre medical officer Dr Durgaprasad M R released the photographers’ directory.
Anand K, vice-president, Kannada daily ‘Udayavani’, ZP former member A C Bhandary, central labour education board education officer Satish Kumar, association secretary Naveen Rai Panja, and treasurer Jagannat Shetty were the chief guests on the occasion.
Association honorary president Satish Kumar, president Dayanand B, secretary Krishnaraj Rao, and treasurer Sukumar were also present.
The association’s past president T Harish Rao delivered the introductory address. Past treasurer Kishore welcomed the gathering. Nelson Frank proposed the vote of thanks. H K Nayanadu compered the programme.
Veteran medical practitioner Dr K Narendra Acharya, progressive farmer John Vincent Veigas, and Tulunadu folklore scholar Prof Tukaram Poojary were felicitated during the programme.
