Mangalore, Jan 22: The 27th National convention of environmental engineers ‘Green Technology’ will be held here at Hotel Deepa Comforts here on January 24 and 25.
N Vinay Hegde, chancellor, Nitte University and chairman of Lamina Group of industries will be the chief guest and will inaugurate the convention.
Dr N Vinod Tare, prefessor of Civil Engineering, IIT Kanpur and also the National co-ordinator of the Initiative with the IIT’s to rejuvenate the River Gangas will be the guest of honor and AK Sinha, chairman, Environmental Engeneering Division Board, IEI will preside over the function. As many as 150 delegates are likely to participate in the event.
The convention will have ten sessions where about 80 research papers will be presented and discussed under the various themes such as alternative energy sources for power generation, environmental friendly technologies in process industries, innovations for environment preservation and such others, briefed K Balakrishna, chairman of organizing committee.
The aim of the National convention on green technology is to provide a forum for experts from industry and academia everywhere in the world to exchange ideas and present ongoing research in green technologies, he informed during the press meet.
The convention also will felicitate the eminent engineers MM Kamath, V Hanumanulu (Chief Engineer, MSEZ), and Dr. Mhaisalkar (Professor, VNIT Nagpur).
State of the Art Lecture will be delivered by Dr David Scoellhamer, United States Geological Survey, Scaramento, USA.
Young Engineers' Awards will be presented to three Engineers for their contribution to the field of environmental Engineering.
Sathish Rao, Ashok Alva, Vishwanath Puttan and S Shrihari, organizing secretary were among others who were present at the press meet.
