Dehradun, Apr 27: In a shocking case of extortion under the guise of a 'love jihad' accusation, police have arrested two individuals for allegedly falsely implicating a man and extorting more than Rs 1 lac from him.

The incident took place in Ladhowala locality, under Kotwali police station, where a woman accused a man of raping her and forcing her to convert to another religion. She claimed that the man, who she alleged posed as a Hindu, also made a video under the pretense of marriage.

However, after a thorough investigation, police found that the case was fabricated. Circle Officer Raju Kumar informed that the woman, along with two accused Shahnawaz and Sadakat were involved in conspiring to extort money from the man, Babar alias Sonu.

The investigation revealed that Babar was coerced into paying Rs 1.25 lac, under the false allegations. The two arrested men were taken into custody, and Rs 25,000 was recovered from them. Meanwhile, the woman is still at large, and efforts to track her down are ongoing.

A case of extortion was registered against Babar on April 21, based on the woman's complaint, which included allegations of rape, forced conversion, and the creation of a deceptive video. The police are continuing their search for the woman behind the false FIR.
