Mangalore: Boat at Sultan Battery Catches Fire

Mangalore, Jan 16: A boat at Sultan Battery caught fire here on Monday January 16, after wires from a neaby electric pole fell on it.

The incident occured when a lorry at the site, while taking reverse, rammed into the electric pole, loosening the wires which fell on the boat.

The fire squads who were called immediately rushed to the spot and managed to douse the fire.

The estimated loss is not yet ascertained. The boat, a non-mechanised one, was completely charred.

The owner of the boat, Yadav Poojary of Thingalaya compound, Bolur, was not at the site at the time of the incident.

    its good that only boat was charred. what if any passerby or animal was in that place. why there is no facility when wire break or something like that happens electricity flow should be automatically shut off or disconnected.
