Mangalore: Budding Artists Exhibit their Works at Orchid Art Gallery

Mangalore, Jan 15: A group exhibition by Beynon Smith College of Fine Arts was inaugurated at Orchid Art Gallery here on Saturday January 14.
Radhika M Chinchewadi, Rajashree R Sutar, Veena Badeppanavar, Sandeep M Hongekar, Dharmendra Kumawat are exhbiting their works for the first time at the exhibition. Students of the final year BVA of the college are exhibiting their talent through 25 art works.
Ramesh Rao, an eminent artist from Udupi, lighted the lamp and inaugurated the exhibition. He said, "It is good that students in the start of their career are getting an opportunity to exhibit their works and solicit public opinion." He lamented the government inaction in not giving enough support in appointing drawing teachers, despite which, there are many art students from the art colleges. He also called upon the students to take criticism in a more positive and constructive way.
Purushotham Nayak, principal of city's Mahalasa School of Arts and registrar of Karnataka Lalitha Kala Aacadamy, Sudheendra, were present on the occasion.
The exhibition is being sponsored by the Karnataka Lalitha Kala Academy. Sudheendra said that the academy is ever ready to listen to the problems of the artists and encourage them. He said if anything more requires to be done for artists the academy is ready to do it.
Principal of Beynon Smith College of Fine Art Anil Prakash and faculty member Aron Prakash were present on the occasion.
The exhibition will be open to public viewing till the January 17 at the Orchid Art Gallery.
