Udupi, Jan 12: Police led by Kaup circle inspector Cheluvaraju on Wednesday January 11 morning made two more arrests in connection with the disturbances relating to entertainment programme organized at Katapady on New Year Day, which culminated in the death of a policeman.
The arrested are Nazeer (27), residing near Manipur mosque here, and Hanif (25), both of whom are said to be prime suspects. They were produced in a court here on Wednesday evening.
In connection with the sudden death of police head constable Yogish Padakannaya from Mangalore, who was discharging duties at Katapadi police outpost at the time, the police have arrested several people. The police were on the look out of the above two accused. Cheluvaraju and other personnel, who got information that the accused were to come back from Bangalore on Wednesday morning, waited for them and arrested them as soon as they got down from a bus. The two have reportedly confessed to their crime during police interrogation.
Investigation is progressing under the supervision of Kaup police station.
