Udupi, Jan 10: Leader of the opposition in state assembly, Siddaramaiah, predicted that there will not be any political polarization in the state around Makara Sankranti period as expected by some leaders. At the same time, he hastened to add that the chair of Chief Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, is not on a firm footing.
Addressing the reporters here on Monday January 9, Siddaramaiah said scams and corruption sum up the three years of misrule by BJP in state. He said he foresees easy victory for Congress in the coming bypoll for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha seat. “A number of BJP MLAs, ministers, and former Chief Minister, have visited jail. Some more are on the way. Yeddyurappa is engaged in blackmailing party high command, apart from participating in Yajnas and Homas. He also has been trying to bring pressure on party bigwigs to yield to his demand, by threatening to form new party. Yeddyurappa was right in claiming that Eshwarappa had sent him to jail,” Siddaramaiah explained.
He said that steps need to be taken if farmers and environment have suffered because of the thermal power plant that has come up near Padubidri. “The Supreme Court, in its verdict delivered in 1968, had held that Sri Krishna Mutt is a temple. The BJP government is wrong in exempting it from the purview of muzrai department,” he opined.
