Mangalore, Jan 10: The Muslim central committee, DK and Udupi district president Al Haj K S Mohammed Masood, ex MLC condemned the actions of several communal groups which have engaged in creating communal disharmony in the state from a few months.
Referring to the incident of the 'Pakistani flag hoisting' in Sindhagi taluk of Bijapur district, he said that the activists of Sri Ram Sene who were arrested in the case were spreading communal hatred among people of the society and added that if immediate action is not taken on them, it would only cause further harm to the society.
He questioned the numbness of the government in cases like Pakistani flag hoisting, prevention of religious leaders by Sangha Parivar activists from performing religious discourse at a Mosque in Kodavoor village in Udupi recently and repeated attacks on Christian institutions among others.
He also condemned the act of Dr Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka who made the accused sit on the dais and dared the police to arrest him, this also shows the failure of the government, he said.
The Muslim central committee also requests the people of the undivided districts to upkeep communal harmony, he said.
Organizations provoking the communal hatred among people should be banned and a memorandum will be submitted to CM Sadananda Gowda, home minister R Ashok, DGP Shankar Bidari, he said.
Ibrahim Kodijal, vice president of the Muslim central committee and former mayor Ashraf among others were present.
