Bhatkal, Jan 9: Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) staged protest against transfer of DCs in Uttar Kannada district in recent years, the rally started from IB office through Shamsuddin Circle went to assistant commissioner’s (AC) on Saturday January 7.
DSS submitted a memorandum to AC Ashoke against the transfer of 13 DCs in a short span three years in the district.
DSS stated that no single DC have stayed even for a year which had brought hindrance in the development of the region. In a short term DC cannot understand problems in the district.
Recently transferred DC B N Krishnaiyah had become friendly many poor people and has done commendable work to develop the district. Poor and needy people were benefited by his work and transferring a DC like him had annoyed poor in the region.
The memorandum also appealed the administration to restrain his transfer and let him continue service as DC at least for another three years.
District convener of DSS Manjunath Hallyar, DSS president Krishna Hallyar, Mahadev Bakad, Ganesh Hallyar and Mahesh Palegar were present among others.
