Mangalore: Ullal Municipal President Faces No-confidence from Party Councillors

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jan 9:  In all likelihood, a no-confidence motion will be moved against the present president of Ullal municipality by Congress councilors on Monday January 9.

Ullal municipality has 27 councillors, of which 17 belong to Congress. Over a year back, Congress councillor, Basil D’Souza, was chosen as president of the municipality. A group within the party says that Basil, at the time of his election, had given his assent to get down from his post after a year to pave way for another Congress councillor to get elevated to the post.  But now, Basil is not interested to resign

As such, disgruntled Congress legislators have decided to move no-confidence motion against him. 14 councillors have already given a notice to the assistant commissioner of their intention to move no-confidence motion.
