Mangalore, Jan 9: Women and child welfare minister, C C Patil, hailed Kudubi community for conserving their traditions handed down through generations, in spite of the onslaught of modernization. He said he will raise the issue of bringing Kudubi community under scheduled tribes in the next cabinet meeting along with minister, Krishna Palemar, and try to arrive at a decision on the issue soon.
He was delivering the valedictory address at the concluding function of the decennial festival, ‘Amchi Paramparachi Ek Vaibhav – Kudubi Khelu Melu’ organized under the aegis of Muchoor Udayapura Shashwata Samaja Seva Sangha on Saturday January 7.
Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, who presided over the function, expressed happiness at decorating the function with naturally available items, without resorting to artificial products like plastic. He wanted the Kudubis to give importance to education to improve their standards of living.
President of Jnanaratna Education Trust and Matrubhoomi Cooperative Bank, Bhaskar Devasya, Bhuvanabhirama Udupa of ‘Yugapurusha’, Fr Ronald D’Souza of Neerude Church, Ideal group of educational institutions president, Y Mohammed Beary, and various other dignitaries were present.
Members of Kudubi community with laudable feats to their credit, were felicitated on the occasion. Convener of the decennial celebrations committee, Janardhana Gowda, welcomed and delivered introductory address. Krishna Prasad Kompadavu proposed vote of thanks.
