Chennai, Jan 9 (IANS) Leander Paes rolled back the years with a dominating performance, as he along with new partner Janko Tipsarevic, defeated Israeli combination of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram 6-4, 6-4, to annex the doubles title in the Aircel Chennai Open here on Sunday.
It took the third seeded Indo-Serbian pair just 73 minutes to subdue the Israelis who Saturday night had ousted top seeded Rohan Bopanna and Mahesh Bhupathi.
Peas was yet again very impressive, especially at the net where he came up with timely "poaching" and looked as sharp as ever while Tipsarevic shrugged off the singles final defeat earlier in the day to compliment the Indian with some solid tennis.
The Israelis, seeded fourth, fought gamely, but the combined might of Paes and Tipsarevic proved rather too strong for them, much to the delight of the partisan crowd that otherwise had little to cheer about in the tournament.
