Udupi, Jan 7: Policemen of the Corps of Detectives (COD) visited Kota police station and began investigation into the twin-murders of couple, Sanjeeva Kini (75) and Vasanti Kini (63) from Parampalli near Saligrama in the district, on Thursday January 5.
A team of three officers of COD headed by deputy superintendent of police, Basavaraj, has been entrusted with this investigation. Investigation into the double murders was handed over to COD two days back. The team also inspected the house of Sanjeeva Kini, where the duo was murdered, and looked for clues. The COD officials, who have camped in Kota since the last two days, are continuing with their investigation.
The couple was killed by assailants by hitting them with grinding stones on August 26 last year. The murderers had taken away ornaments worn by the lady and also those kept in the cupboard. The murders had come to light after Saku Pai, elder sister of Vasanti, came visiting the house on August 28.
The policemen have been unable to make any headway in the investigation. Hence, the case has been transferred to COD.
