Mangalore: District Congress Committee Urges Ban on Sangha Parivar

Mangalore, Jan 6: The recent anti-national incident wherein allegedly six activists of the right wing Sri Rama Sene who planned to spark communal violence in Sindhagi of Bijapur district by hoisting the Pakistan flag on the mini Vidhana premises was severely condemned by the D K district congress committee.

At a press meet held at district congress office here, DKDCC president Bantwal MLA Ramanath Rai flayed the agenda of Sangha Parivar and other organizations spreading hatred feelings in the society in the name of safeguarding the interest of Hindus. The act of hoisting Pakistan flag had involved spreading hatred feelings to other parts of the state. This act is severely condemned by the DKDCC, Rai said. He called upon the state Government to take stringent action to ban such anti social groups.


Rai also rued over the practice of Sangha Parivar which made arrangements to bring college students by bus to campaigns of Sangha Parivar and thereby sowing the seeds of communal hatred feelings. He said he already has written letter to the commissioner of PU education department on this issue to take some action, also in future thought of bringing the matter to the notice of the Governor and the President of India by writing a letter.

Rai also informed that on January 9 AICC general secretary Madhusudhan Mistry will visit the city to participate in a meeting to be held at Shanthi Kiran, Bajjodi Nanthoor to discuss on the strengthening the party. Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes, Dr M Virappa Moily, Janardhan Poojary will also participate, he informed.

Congress leader Ivan D'Souza, Vijaya Kumar Shetty, Kodijal Ibrahim, Mithun Rai, T K Sudhir, Suresh Bhandary, Mamata Gatty, Appi among others were present.
