Mangalore: Lord Venkataramana Temple Bracing for Re-consecration, Car Festival

Mangalore, Jan 6: Lord Venkataramana Temple in Car Street here, which is one of the important religious centres of the district, will be abuzz with activities between January 10 and 16 on account of religious rituals and festivities connected with the re-consecration of the temple deity.
This was stated by managing trustee of the temple, C Lakshman Shenoy, at a press conference held here on Thursday January 5.
“The re-consecration ritual will be solemnized by spiritual head of Kashi Mutt, Sri Sudhindrateertha Swamiji, and his disciple, Sri Samyamindra Swamiji. A procession of the newly made golden throne of the Lord will be organized at 6 pm on January 10," he said.
"During the period from January 10 and 16, various religious programmes will be held. At 10.29 am on January 16, re-consecration of the Lord’s idol will be performed, followed by consecration of Shikhara Kalasha, Tatwa Kalashisheka, post-consecration puja, inaugural of newly built cow shelter, etc. At 7 pm the same day, a public function will be organized,” he explained.
On January 19, the programme of ‘Tapta Mudradharane’ will be organized. A procession as part of Divijayotsava of the Swamiji will be taken out on the evening on January 22. At 12.42 pm on January 24, Dhwaja Pratishte will be performed. The annual car festival of the temple will be held between January 26 to 31, he explained.
Renovation committee president, M Padmanabha Pai, secretary, S Satish nayak, and engineer, Venkatesh Pai, were present at the press conference.
