Mumbai, Jan 26: The bustling suburb of Borivali East witnessed an extraordinary celebration as the Sri Brahma Baidarkala Garadi came alive with the vibrant 51st Annual Nemotsava, hosted by the Om Shri Jagadishwari Seva Samiti (R) of Deulapada.
The event, which honours the legendary Tulu Nadu Veera Daivas, including Koti Chennaya, saw an outpouring of devotion, culture, and community spirit on Saturday night.
The festivities began last Friday with a grand Kalasha Pratishtha ceremony, followed by Ageral Tambila, Baidarkala Darshan, and a series of sacred rituals that set the tone for this spectacular spiritual gathering.
Under the leadership and guidance of Seva Samiti founder president Shekhar Indu Salian Katpadi, the 51st edition of the Nemotsava was a true testament to the power of tradition and faith.
Saturday morning began with the much-anticipated Ganahoma and Durga Puja, filling the air with a sacred energy. The celebrations reached their peak in the evening, with the vibrant Baidarkala Nema (Kola), Jogipura Nema, and Mayandalamma Nema rituals, each bringing with it a surge of devotion and energy.
In the Garadi, Raghu K Kotyan ensured the flawless execution of the daily rituals, while Vidwan Sukumar Bhat Baikala performed the pujas, bestowing blessings and Teertha Prasada to the gathered devotees.
The high point of the Nemotsava was the involvement of several key personalities, including Prasad Kalya from Mulund as Devi Patrika, Narasappa K Marnad, and Umesh Suvarna, with prominent priests like Sukesh Poojari (Balkatta Garadi), Dinesh Poojari (Cherkadi Garadi), and Satish Poojari (Manibettu Garadi) leading the divine rituals.
The entire event was a colourful blend of traditional performances, with the Divati team, Valaga troupe, Garadi Sevakaru, and Kola performers adding to the magical atmosphere.
This year’s Nemotsava saw prominent dignitaries in attendance, including Bharat Bank president Suryakant J Suvarna, directors Bhaskar M Salian, Gangadhara J Poojari, and Santosh K Poojari, along with well-known community leaders such as Mahesh Karkera from the Billava Association Mumbai, hotel magnate Mundappa S Payade, and Birla Capital CEO Ashok Suvarna. Together, they joined in honouring the contributors and devotees, showering them with flowers and prasada as a mark of respect and gratitude.
The festivities culminated with a spirited Mangala on Sunday morning, leaving devotees with a sense of divine fulfillment and community unity. The Seva Samiti's leadership, including president Lakshman S Salian, vice-president Narasappa K Marnad, general secretary C A Abhijit G Shetty, and others, ensured the smooth running of the event, which was also supported by the active participation of youth and women’s committees.
As the 51st Brahma Baidarkala Nemotsava wrapped up, it left behind a trail of joyous memories, reinforcing the significance of tradition, community, and devotion. This yearly event continues to be a beacon of spiritual energy, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate the cultural richness of Tulu Nadu.
