Udupi: Yatri Sangha Opposes Move to Extend Mumbai Train to Kerala

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jan 5: Udupi Railway Passengers Association held an emergency meeting in the town on Wednesday January 4. The meeting, presided over by Shekhar N Kotian, passed a resolution urging the concerned not to extend Mangalore Junction – Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus Express train to Kerala at any cost.

Sensing that some clandestine moves to change the destination of the train from Mangalore Junction to a city in Kerala are under way, the Sangha noted that the train is at present, suitable for the passengers of Karnataka,  and hence demanded to change the starting point of the train to Mangalore Central instead of Mangalore junction station.

The meeting also urged MPs from the state to put pressure on the railways to extend Yeshwantpur – Kannur train, Mangalore-Kannur stretch of which has been incurring huge losses, to Karwar instead of Kannur. The Sangha noted that the court has already delivered its verdict in favour of changing the train’s destination to Karwar. It requested the people’s representatives to forget their party affiliations and function unitedly for the benefit of the people of Karnataka coast by putting in their efforts as suggested above.

We should not allow the extention of Mumbai train to Mangalore at any cost. As it is at present, it is very difficult to get a ticket booking.

Jai ho Udupi passemger yatri Sangha for your timely action. The people of Coastal Karnataka always keep an eye on this. Otherwise, one day the Mumbai-Mangalore Train will be extended to Kerala. Also, we have to fight for extending Bangalore-Knanur Night Train to Karwar.
