Udupi, Jan 4: The police teams, which have been entrusted with the task of investigating the death of Yogish Padakannaya, a head constable attached to Katapadi police outpost, during an altercation with youth celebrating New Year till late night,  have been working with a sense of urgency to complete the same at the earliest. They believe that the post mortem report will be able to provide them with crucial clues about the real cause of the policeman’s death.

Three teams, headed by Kaup police sub-inspector, Mohan Kottary, district crime intelligence bureau sub-inspector, Girish Kumar, and Shirva police sub-inspector, K R Nayak, have been investigating the death of Yogish. The teams are monitored by Kaup circle inspector, B Cheluvaraju, under the directions of Kaup deputy superintendent of police, B Cheluvaraju.

The policemen have subjected some office bearers of Adarsh Youth Club Katapadi, who had organized the musical evening, to questioning. They are looking into all the related issues from different angles, and have questioned assistant sub-inspector of Katapadi outpost, Vittal Shetty, and eyewitnesses, Dayananda Prabhu and Kantaraju. The teams have gathered information that the deceased policeman had undergone angioplasty procedure in the past. As such, the policemen want to confirm whether his death was caused because of assault or heart attack. For determining this, they need post mortem report.

First information report relating to the above incident stands registered about unlawful assembly and raising a commotion against organizers of the programme, Raviprakash Acharya Katapadi, Wilfred Oswald D’Souza, Sudhakar Salian, Santosh, Vijay Moodubelle, Edwin Louis, and some others.
