Sullia, Jan 4: Vanita (21), daughter of Bhojappa Gowda from Gargunja Mane in Peraje Amchoor, ended her life at the room where she used to stay as paying guest, on Tuesday January 3.
Vanita was a student of a college here. She used to stay in a rented room in Parivarakana here along with her college-going sister. After her sister left for college on Tuesday, Vanita hanged herself from the ceiling fan of her room. In a suicide note left behind, she said she had decided to end life because of a person named Ganesh.
It is learnt that Vanita had told her father about mobile messages she frequently got from a person named Ganesh on her mobile phone. Bhojappa visited his daughter’s room, enquired her about the calls, and upbraided her, before snatching away her mobile phone and returning home.
In a report filed with the policemen, Bhojappa suspected that this development would have hurt the emotions of his daughter, and driven her to take this extreme step. The policemen, who have registered a case, have begun investigation.
