Udupi, Jan 3: Devadiga Seva Sangha (DSS) Udupi organized a two-day unique personality development, leadership and career guidance camp for students.
The participants were made to stay in Sangha as a part of intensive and focused boot camp, which was inaugurated by former vice chancellor of Kuvempu University, Shimoga B S Sherigar recently here.
Udupi based businessman B G Laxmikanth Beskoor, former president of the Sangha Narasihma Sherigar and co-ordinator of the event Raghavenda G were also present at the Dais.
Devadgia United is a group of like-minded Devadiga youngsters in India as well as abroad. The Sangha is reached by many for organizing such meaningful event. The group has an ambition to conduct more such programs in other locations to spread the knowledge and awareness needed for the well-being of people.
As part of the camp master facilitator and trainer in HRD & TQM of General Education, Manipal Prof Radhakrishnan M enlightened the students with a present on the topic ‘Pearls for peak performance’, where in he emphasized various tips on how to become a better person.
Raghavendra G explained how presentation skill is important in different situations of day-to-day life. Also he pointed out some of the important tips in answering an examination with a pictorial presentation.
Lecturer at WGSHA, Manipal University Rahul Shedbulkar beautifully explained the basic etiquettes in day to day life with live demonstration and video clips. These basic etiquette skills are necessary to hone one’s grooming.
Prashanth Chandra M, working at Misys, Bangalore explained the different styles of leadership and tips to become good leader. He also elaborated the difference between a good leader and an inspired leader.
Praveen entertained students with brain teaser –‘Bheja Fry’ designed by Amith, which was followed by activities to teach youth team work and planning.
The second day of the camp began with ‘yogasana’, which was guided and supervised by Sadananda Sherigar Perdoor who is also a famous Karate instructor.
Assistant manager HR at PRPL, Udupi Jyothi Prashanth briefed the participants on communication skills which is the most needed weapon in this competitive world.
Assistant professor at MIT, Manipal Balakrishna Maddodi, gave a wonderful session on Career Plan with the help of an innovative presentation of ‘Camels in a zoo’ co-relating them to real human life in society. With his experience of 15 years in the field of career guidance, students were engrossed in understanding their approach to their goals in future.
The interactive session, that brought out the hidden career idea of each and every student.
Inmates of Sri Krishna Bhalanikethan, one of the orphanages at Udupi made the special for the participants.
The participants along with organizers played games with the kids and offered them gifts. A drawing competition was organized for the kids, where they were asked to portray the festivals of India.
The special sessions continued after their departure, where in Mayur, working as an Engineer at Feedback Infrastructure, Mangalore presented a session about www.devadiga.com and briefed the unique features of the website.
The final session of the workshop honourable secretary of the Sangha Shridhar Devadiga shared his thoughts about community and also explained the purpose and working of the Sangha.
The Valedictory ceremony commenced with the melodious invocation song by Shravya and Harshitha.
Ganesh Devadiga president of the Sangha presided over the function.
Ganesh Devadiga and Prakash S Devadiga also orated in a beautiful way inspiring the participants to accelerate the thought process to build their future and the future of the community. Youth secretary of Mangalore Devadiga Sangha Karunakar Devadiga addressed the gathering.
Shilpa welcomed the gathering and Namratha conducted the distribution of participation certificate.
Former president of the Sangha Sundar Moily, joint secretary of the Sangha Nithyananda and Karthik spoke n the feedback session about the two days camp.
Certificate of participation was distributed to the participants by the dignitaries. Praveen Kumar, Asst. Professor, MIT, Manipal delivered the vote of thanks.
Closing ceremony was beautifully compered by Vinay.
Sangha executive wants the event to be an annual affair and would conduct similar programs every year.
More than thirty five students participated in the camp and gained immense knowledge and insight towards their professional and personal growth. Organizers had a campfire lit, where participants of the camp, organizers and other well-wishers shared few light moments with singing and dancing.
