Bhatkal, Jan 1: DySP M Narayana unveiled the trophy of the Royal Cup 2012 tournament, which will start from April 15 this year, organized by Royal Sports Club here on Friday December 30.
The programme commenced with the recitation of Quran by Abdul Hai with translation by Arqam Ruknaddin.
Chief guest and Bhatkal DySP M Narayana in his address said that it is wonderful to see such sports activities happening, he also lauded that Bhatkalli people are really good at conducting tourneys for Cricket and Kabbaddi.
He urged all sports clubs in the taluk to unite and conduct as a single event to remind the world that people here are moving towards development and not corruption and not for terrorism.
He congratulated people in the region and said that the region is one of the least corrupt and peaceful places. He also praised the helping nature of Muslim people in the taluk.
Jamathul Muslimeen, Bhatkal president Mohtesham in his address said that Royal Club is one of the clubs in the taluk, which has capability to organize all types of sports events as well as other socio-cultural events.
Guest of honour and president of BMJ Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia Yonus Kazia in his address said that Royal Sports Club has already conducted many big cricket tournaments and Royal Cup 2012 is a bigger event. He congratulated the club for the special Islamic education provided to women.
CPI Bhatkal Shiva Prakash in his address appreciated the sports-spirit of people, seeing the beautiful cup he expressed his wish that department team would like to play the tournament.
He further lauded the communal harmony in the taluk and said that it has proven wrong many misconceptions he had heard about the place.
TMC president Inayatullah Shahbandari congratulated the club for the event and requested them to organize district level tourneys for players of Uttarkannada, Kundapur Udupi and Manglore. He also advise club not to allow any team with out coach.
President of Majlise Islah-o-Tanzeem Parvez Khashimji in his address said that it is for the first time any club is holding a cup launching ceremony even ICC cricket has not organized such ceremony.
General Secretry Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation Abdul Raqeeb in his address said that sportsmanship spirit in Bhatkal is commendable.
Abdul Rab briefed the activities of Royal Sports Club. Hisham welcomed the gathering and Arqam Proposed vote of thanks.
