Mangalore, Dec 31: Jerardin D'Souza, the recently nominated special invitee for the Karnataka State Christian Minority Development Council, was honoured by the Civil Engineers Association Of city at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatte here on Thursday December 29.
The president Of the Engineers Association Vijay Vishnu Mayya was joined by Fr Valerian Menezes and Lions district vice governor Lion K C Prabhu and many others in honouring Jerardin D'Souza.
Jerardin D'Souza in reply to the felicitation said it was a humbling experience to get felicitated even before doing much service to the Council. He said that he took this opportunity to create awareness of the existence of the newly constituted council.
The Council has Funds allocated by the Government for purposes like, education, women self employment, rural home industries,poor homes, various skill developments like computers, nursing, plastic technology etc. housing loans are also available. There are many subsidies which D'Souza urged the eligible and needy people to avail. As the financial year ends in march 2012, the funds should be utilised before that.

Being an Engineer himself ,Jerardin D'Souza appreciated Mayya and his association for deeming him fit to be thus honoured. He also was all praise for the secular and cosmopolitan outlook of the engineers association. Since the Christmas celebration was the theme of the meeting, a beautiful Crib was in place, with Santa Claus distributing gifts ,singing carols ,the whole Christmas Spirit was alive and jingling all the way.
The Engineers Association is brilliantly led by Mayya,who is a multi faceted personality.,who has a very creative bent of mind.
Jerardin Dsouza also thanked Lion Arun Shetty, advocate and notary for his fantastic support. There was a very good gathering who all celebrated the Christmas Spirit in the true sense.
