Shimoga: Dreadful Act - 24 Foetuses Dumped in Public Area

Shimoga, Dec 30: In a shocking and awful incident which can be considered extreme level of inhuman act, 24 aborted foetuses were found abandoned in the road side here on Friday December 30 morning.
The people were astonished to observe the 24 dead foetuses lying on the roadside of Arekere and Theerthahalli road and blamed the apathy of hospitals.
10 foetuses were found near Arekere School and 14 were found near garbage located by the side of Theerthahalli road here. They were packed in a box and dumped in the garbage.
Though there have been stringent law to vanish foeticide, mounting number of such incidents have been reported and greed for money by the staffs at the hospitals are considered the cause for such cases, allege local people.
Police officials, district health officers and the DC visited the spot. Foetuses have been sent to forensic department. A case has been registered in the police station and investigations are on.
Speaking to media persons, Shimoga SP Ramangupta said in all, 24 foetuses were found and were of 6 to 8 months old.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the foetuses had some physical abnormalities. They have been sent to forensic department and thorough investigation will be carried out. Stern action will be initiated, he assured.
