Bangalore, Dec 28: Four major housing layouts will be developed in Mysore city limits at an estimated cost of Rs. 900 crore.
Karnataka’s Medical Education S A Ramdas, who held a meeting with Urban Development and Law Minister S Suresh Kumar, officials of Mysore City Corporation, Karnataka Housing Board and Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on Wednesday, said approval of the Urban
Development for developing four housing layouts on 10,000 acres around Mysore City has been already obtained.
The proposed four layouts are: Suvarna Jayanthi (Rs. 190 crore), Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar (Rs. 246 crore), Shantaveri GopalagowdaII phase (Rs 290 crore) and Lalitadri II phase (Rs. 84 crore).
Ramdas, who is also the district in-charge minister for Mysore, said the land acquisition process has commenced for developing the layouts. Lands would be acquired for housing layouts in Chowdahalli, Yedahalli, Lingabudi, and Allala, he said.
He said 45 per cent of the acquired land would be set aside for housing sites.
About 34,500 families have been identified as “houseless” in Mysore City limits and about 6,000 houses have already been constructed. Ready to occupy houses would be allotted to eligible beneficiaries by January 30, 2012, he said.
A committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner has been asked to prepare a housing plan for the City. The panel expected to get ready with the plan by next month end. It was planned to build 35,000 houses in the next one year, he said.
A heritage park would be developed in front of Lalitha Mahal in Mysore City and it would be developed on PPP model.
The estimated plan expenditure for the park would be Rs 18 crore.
Ramadas said a 9 km ring road would be developed between Bannur and Nanjangud for providing better connectivity to the city at an estimated cost of Rs. 54 crore.
On way the to Nanjangud, MUDA has identified a 60 acre plot for building a cricket stadium of international standard.
The City’s Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) would get expired on December 31, 2011. Taking into development works in the city, a CDP for a period of 2012-30 would be prepared soon.
The new CDP would be placed before the MUDA meeting and later for approval of the State Government, he said.
