Mangaluru: Man arrested for robbery in Naguri medical shop

Mangaluru, Jan 2: Kankanady Town police have arrested a man accused of robbing a woman employee at a medical shop in Naguri. The incident occurred on December 28 when the accused allegedly threatened the employee with a knife, assaulted her, and stole Rs 19,300 from the shop's cash drawer.

Acting on the complaint, the police formed a special team to investigate the case. The team apprehended the accused and recovered Rs 17,500 in cash, along with a scooter and other items used in the robbery, amounting to a total value of Rs 1,20,000.

The accused has been identified as Sunil (31), son of Basavaraj, residing at Door No. 2-134-2, Cyril Compound, Patrokodi, behind Bondel Church, Bondel, Mangaluru.

The arrest was made under the guidance of Mangaluru police commissioner Anupam Agarwal, deputy commissioners of police Siddharth Goel IPS (Law & Order) and Ravi Shankar KSPS (Crime & Traffic), and assistant police commissioner (south division) Dhanya Nayak KSPS.

The operation was led by Kankanady Town police inspector T D Nagaraj, assisted by PSI Vinayak Bhavikatti and Shivakumar, along with staff members Jayanand, Sandeep, Rajesab, Gangadhar, Raghavendra, and Pradeep, as well as personnel from the south subdivision office.

The accused will be presented before the court.
