Mangalore: Ninth Cruise Vessel Carrying 665 Passengers Calls at NMPT

Mangalore, Dec 27: Cruise vessel MV Seven Seas Voyager with 665 passengers and 449 crew members called at NMPT on Tuesday December 27.
This is the 9th cruise vessel calling at the Port during the current financial year 2011-12.
The vessel came from Goa and will be sailing out to Cochin the same evening. Majority of the passengers were from the USA and the UK.
As many as 500 passengers opted for ground tour arranged by M/s Ventour International, Mumbai/Lia Travels, Mangalore. The passengers visited places like cashew processing unit at Baikampady, 1000 Pillar Jain temple, Moodbidri, monolithic statue of Gomateshwara at Karkala, Gokarnanatha temple, St Aloysius Chapel, and also went shopping at Mangalore and to a traditional Mangalorean style house at Balmatta. M/s J M Baxi and Co are the agents of the vessel.
Dr P Tamilvanan stated that the next cruise vessel is expected to call at NMPT on Saturday December 31, and two more vessels are scheduled during the first week of January 2012.
He further added that the Port has received a large parcel size fertilizer vessel carrying 50,000 tonnes of DAP imported by MCF from USA handled by M/s Aspinwal and Co for distribution among the farmers of Karnataka. MV Father Neptune berthed at the Port on Sunday December 25 and the unloading operation is in full swing.
