Mangalore: Fun Time for Orphans at Fatima Retreat House Christmas Event

Mangalore, Dec 25: Nearly 200 orphans from five different orphanages in the city were celebrated Christmas at Fatima Retreat House on Sunday December 25.
Among the participants were 18 orphans from Bhagini Samaj, 29 from Zeenath Baksh, Bunder, 59 from Infant Mary, Kulshekar, 53 from Bal Yesu Nilaya, Mary Hill, and many other orphanages.
The celebration with orphans was organized under the guidance of Fr Ronnie Prabhu, director, Fatima Retreat House.
The programme started with prayer by the children of Bal Yesu Nilaya, Mary Hill, and Fr Prabhu launched the event by lighting the lamp.
Fr Francis D’Souza, assistant director, Fatima Retreat House, welcomed and delivered the Christmas message. Lilly Miranda, Jeppu, a retired teacher, compered the programme.
On this occasion, a colourful and meaningful entertainment programme was conducted with each group of children presenting their cultural talents through songs, dances, skits, and many other activities. Anil D’Souza of ‘Jesus Youth’ and his team organized the group games which the children played happily in 12 groups.
Later, Fr Prabhu distributed prizes to each participant. Every child was presented with a school bag and a pack of candies sponsored by donors.
Ligoury Fernandes organized this programme. Ronnie Saldana as Santa Claus had the children excited and brought forth peals of laughter.
